Walk away those niggling joint pains
If you have pains in your joints, you might have exercise low on your priority list. And quite honestly, why wouldn’t you? If you ache already, or you’re feeling stiff and uncomfortable, then why carry out exercise that will make you feel even more stiff and uncomfortable?!
But what if we told you that walking actually helps to ease joint pain and other niggles? Walking (to your own pace) helps to strengthen the muscles that support your lower body, from your feet and ankle joints all the way up to your hips.
Stronger muscles help to support stronger ligaments and tendons that hold our joints and bones together, therefore putting less pressure on sore, aching joints.
(Just a little note to say that if you have a medical condition that causes chronic pain or you’re at all unsure, please do speak to your GP or other medical specialist before embarking on any new exercise, just to make sure you’re doing the best thing for your body.)
